CAMP FACILITIES: We have a modern Retreat Center comprised of 24 lodging rooms, an industrial kitchen, meeting and dining rooms. Campers stay in our cabins that boast rustic charm with the modern amenities of electricity and running water. Outdoor facilities include hiking trails, archery range, pond, low ropes challenge course, campfire rings, and outdoor vespers sites.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The mission of Highlands Summer Camp is to foster belonging, connection, faith, curiosity, and a sense of adventure in our campers through a safe and fun camp experience.

Highlands Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), signifying that we meet high standards for health, safety, and operational management.

Summer camp is run by our full-time, year round Program Director who ensures compliance and meets all specifications for the ACA and Colorado Childcare Licensing Standards. The Program Director also maintains an active Wilderness First Responder certification.

We are fortunate to have a Registered Nurse onsite 24/7 during camp sessions to provide medical care for our campers and staff.

Camp counselors are trained in CPR and First Aid and participate in a full week of staff training to ensure proper training on policies, procedures, emergency plans, behavior management, activity facilitation, and FUN!

All staff undergo fingerprinting and background checks.

How can that change our world, not only at camp, but especially when we come down the mountain? And how will that forgiveness make us better versions of ourselves? Stagebugz is a new theater camp run by sisters Aspen and Ashley Somers, both current students at the prestigious University of Southern California's School of Dramatic Arts. Aspen is an experienced actress with over 60 credits ranging from theater to feature films. She became one of the youngest directors to be nominated for a BroadwayWorld Regional Award for her play "Letters" at the age of 16. Other credits include director and executive producer of the web series "Quarantwinned", assistant director of Impulse Theater Company's "Speech and Debate", and intern/assistant stage manager for Rocky Mountain Theater for Kids.

Ashley has performed in many notable works including national commericals and TV movies. Aside from acting, she has directed everyone from first-time theatre kids in the youth program at the Town Hall Arts Center to Broadway stars in the series Quarantwinned. She also has plenty of experience working with kids as a nanny and a tutor, and she helped develop theatre curriculum for children as part of the Homework Helpers program.

Summer Long SproutHouse Program: ages 3-6 (9 weeks, June 1-July 31)
This summer program will incorporate all the farm has to offer: Circle time, recycled art, music, zipline, daily farm routines, exploring an old, abandoned airplane, trips to magical fairy forest, feeding and caring for animals, gardening projects, or simply catching toads. This farm-based preschool program is designed to give kids as much outdoor time on the farm as possible. Kids enjoy experiential learning through hands on animal time and care, gardening, harvesting, music, art, circle time, trips to magical fairy forest, zip-line and good old fashioned farm play. By popular demand, we have now added a Pre-K program for kids 4-6, turning 4 by October 1st and planning to attend Kindergarten the following year.

Since its inception in 1997 (formerly known as Ichen Art Studio), Ichen Art Academy has been putting relentless focus on developing high-quality art programs, reflected through its students’ artworks and measured by its students’ achievements. Many of its art-major students have now gone on to renowned art colleges and most prestigious majors such as CalArt’s Character Animation, ArtCenter’s Entertainment Design and Rhode Island School of Design. Some art-major students from early years have found employments in high-tech companies such as Google, Facebook and Netflix. Similarly, its non-art-major students have been accepted by nation’s top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton and MIT with the help of submission of a strong supplemental art portfolio. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Jewish UnCamp is open to Jewish girls from all backgrounds, from those who have no experience with Jewish customs and texts, to those who have significant experience. Our approach is Chabad, with its emphasis on understanding the unique Divine mission we each have in creation.

The Jewish UnCamp is a project of Bais Chana Women International, an award-winning nonprofit organization that serves an international clientele of Jewish women from all walks of life, from teenagers to grandmothers, with Jewish education, guidance and support.

Get ready for late-night cook-fests, drum circles, bonfires, talent shows, and slam poetry.

In the creative workshops, you'll explore ceramics, acrylics, collage making, stained glass, watercolor, and multi-media

And with over three thousand years of Jewish wisdom to tap into, you'll explore topics like: true love, the nature of the soul, what is the human psyche, what do Jews believe, why is Israel important, why kosher, what do dreams mean, what about faith, free will, destiny and reincarnation, what’s Shabbat for, what’s the key to happiness, what about other religions, why do bad things happen to good people…and our favorite — what does it mean to be a Jew today and why should I care? Professional & Crazy Fun Staff — Our Educators teach for us all year round. They live and breathe our renowned curriculum, and they’ve been practicing our trademark camp games for years, so they are more than ready to rumble.

Summer Program Director Cora Garner is an American Camp Association Member. She came to us after working at Cornell University, Stanford University, and most recently the University of California, Berkeley. Through her work in Higher Education, she has developed and taught courses that focus on identity and community development.

At Girls Leadership we want you to be true-to-you. Every day starts with community games. Our theatre-based workshops focus on developing personal and societal leadership, such as how to ask for what you need. In these sessions girls practice new tools for speaking up for themselves and for others.

We also create beautiful art projects, stay active outside, and always have a spirit theme for the day. These activities are designed to encourage girls to embrace who they are, reflect on what they believe, and give them an opportunity to express themselves creatively.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Let self-esteem take center stage this summer! At Camp RYB, your camper will learn acting, play writing & directing skills, with a special emphasis placed on developing a positive sense of self and body image.

There will be a mixture of theatre technique classes and empowerment workshops aimed at teaching campers a new more positive way of thinking about themselves and about beauty. Through fun and engaging activities, we help your child to build their self-esteem, while they develop new friendships!

Throughout the week, the campers will have the opportunity to create their own theatre piece, to be performed for parents on the final day of camp, at pick-up time.

• Tuition for the summer session is $650 per camper, with discounts offered to campers who sign-up before 3/15 ($600), and discounts for siblings.

- Off-screen activities for independent play and learning (and naps! and yard time!)
- Hands-on activities with real art materials (art camp should be a little messy!)

Camp Staff:
Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.
