Screenwriting, pre-production, producing, directing, camera techniques, and editing (Adobe Premiere) skills are all taught. Our Cinematography program delves into lighting, shot composition and offers hands-on experience with professional equipment. Acting for Film: Students are introduced to the Method and Meisner techniques and able to immediately put their new skills to work in student films. Actors work with photographers in the studio to get their head shots; work on monologue and audition techniques; scene study; and an acting reel (3 week program only).

They film a dance video as well as perform live at the end of the session. Three week students do two pieces - both dance videos and live performances. Advanced dancers can join for our 3 week Dance Conservatory program and focus the last week on choreographing a solo which will be shot and edited - great for auditions or applications!

Screenwriting: Hone your skills in an intensive screenwriting course over one, two, or three weeks. Work closely with other writers and benefit from regular feedback and critique from your peers and instructor as you work on the first act of a feature or the script for a short film. CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

AFFILIATION(S): Christian.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp St. Francis offers a five-day getaway for kids 8-13, teens looking to serve and develop leadership skills, and adults with a desire to share understanding, fun and encouragement with all of the above! Our summer session offers classic camp activities, chapel time and our Scarf program, encouraging personal development for all ages. Set in the Redwoods near Occidental, the kids learn to live and play together among these beautiful wonders of nature.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Fine Arts/Crafts, Dance, Music/Band, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Basketball, and more.

CAMP LOCATION: St. Dorothy’s Rest, an Episcopal camp and retreat facility, is nestled in the dense Redwoods of Camp Meeker, just outside of Occidental, California, in Sonoma County, about 90 minutes Northwest of San Francisco.

CAMP FACILITIES: This site offers indoor dormitory sleeping in bunks with mattresses provided. Campers are grouped together by age and supervised by their counseling staff. The beautiful setting also allows for swimming, access to the Russian River, outdoor basketball court, a play area, a cozy main house lodge, a recreation and gaming room, an outdoor campfire circle, cozy places to sit and share, a crafts shack, and a wonderful Redwood chapel.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Saint Francis is a week filled with programs that allow campers to explore and experience outdoor activities and create for themselves a closer connection to God and their communities.

Established in 2001, CSF moved to its new host site in 2014. This Camp Meeker location affords opportunities for activities like crafts, campfire, archery, games, sports, dance, water fun and nature hikes.

We build on themes of understanding and compassion in all of our programs, particularly in chapel, our scarf program, group games and discussions and our creative lessons and themes throughout the week.

Most of our staff are volunteers and attended camp as campers, and they are dedicated to providing a highly spirited, fun, and welcoming environment. We all strive to be good role models of the Christian way of life. We hope that our positive example and loving Christian environment promotes campers to grow spiritually.

The Scarf program, adopted from the YMCA’s ragger program, teaches campers important life skills, by taking on personal challenges and working towards overcoming them successfully. Ultimately, this helps develop lifelong tools a camper needs for personal growth. * Staff members are screened and trained in program, policies, and safety awareness. Our program is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of California and is welcoming and inclusive.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Youth ages 14-15 are welcome to apply as Program Aides, we also accept volunteers for Counselors (and CITs) and Program leaders. Training for the staff will be held in the Bay Area in July 2017.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Camperships are available on a first come, first serve basis, usually offering a discount of about 1/3.

Session 1: July 24 - 30, 2022
Session 2: July 31 - Aug 6, 2022

CAMP FACILITIES: We offer overnight/sleepaway dance camps in beautiful locations where the pace of life is slower. At ADTC, mountains, forests and lakes will surround you. You'll raise your serotonin, boost your immune system, and do what you love all day long.

Our dance camps are near renowned destination resorts & famous cities. At ADTC, you'll have access to all of the activities you'd want to enjoy at camp, as well as all of the amenities you'd expect to find at a resort. And we have just as much fun outside the dance studio as we do in class!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our top-notch dance choreographers bring the freshest dance combinations to our dance camps! They hail from the best dance studios, schools and performance groups.

ADTC choreographers have the most impressive dance resumes: they are Radio City Rockettes; Broadway & MTV performers; celebrities from your favorite dance TV shows; and collegiate dance team competitors.

No matter what level dancer you are, we’ve got fun & challenging dance classes that’ll fit you just right.

You’ll take four dance classes daily and at week’s end you get to show off your new moves in a big Friday night performance for family, friends and fellow campers.

In addition to core dance classes in contemporary, hip hop & jazz (styles of jazz vary and may include lyrical, modern or Broadway), you’ll choose between ballet, tap or world dance for your core elective dance class.

And we believe girls in our perfectionist culture need to get out and have more authentic fun! At ADTC you can enjoy awesome activities & extras like horseback riding, kayaking, paintball, trampolines, swimming, hiking, rock wall climbing, alpine slides, water rides, and so much more!

Join us this summer for your chance to take dance classes with the best choreographers in the world!
